I’ve experience quite a few desk moves in my time at Google, but this was my first move to a brand new office! In Sydney, our offices are distributed across three buildings in Pyrmont that are within a 5-minute walk of each other. Geo was one of the first teams to move to the new Engineering space, which comes complete with its own barista, juice bar, and laneway cafe. I’ll miss the team as I gear up to move back to the US, but am glad I made it this far. Here’s my photo tour of our offices at One Darling Island.
There are plenty of casual spaces for lounging.
And more “formal” spaces for meeting.
Awhile back, there were unfounded rumors that we were purchasing one of the now decommissioned monorail carts. After forklifting the carriage through a balcony on the second floor, the monorail arrived at its home, just 10 meters from my desk. According to the controls, the monorail’s fastest speed is “Slow,” followed by “Creep,” and “Stop.”
To celebrate the opening, the entire office was treated to Gelato Messina.
I’m going to miss this place!
